Imagine you were going to spend the day walking through the grasslands of Africa where lions roam free. What precautions will you take to ensure you get home safely? How will you think and act differently in that setting than in your backyard in New England?
Peter tells us that our daily lives are much less like a safe backyard setting, and more like a walk through the savanna with dangers in abundance. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” I Peter 5:8-9
Have you taken precautions today? How are your thoughts and actions different knowing that your enemy is hunting you today?
Prayer and time in God’s Word are steps toward protecting yourself from the devil’s assaults. Also be alert, and pay attention to your surroundings. Identify when and where he is attacking and look to the Lord Jesus to protect you. You’re not alone in this battle! Jesus is your strength and your shield!
