Wisdom: Cue Sound Effects!

We usually think of wisdom connected to the mind, but a reading of wisdom literature in the Bible shows that wisdom might not be as much about getting the right answer as it is about living the right way at the right time.

In other words, wisdom is about LIFE and ACTION.  Being wise means DOING, and DOING means NOISE!  What will your life sound like when you’re living wise?

That’s our Lenten focus this year:  Wisdom:  Cue Sound Effects!  We’ll be meditating on Proverbs 3 together as we consider what actions are involved in living the wise life.  Each week will focus on one of the directions toward ACTION from Proverbs 3:

+ Let love and Faithfulness never leave you!

+Trust in the Lord with all of your heart!

+ Shun Evil!

+ Honor the Lord with your wealth!

+ Do not despise the Lord’s Discipline!

+Preserve sound judgement!

+ Do good to others!

Each week we’ll see what a wise life looks like, we’ll recognize our own wisdom shortcomings, and we’ll see how Jesus is perfectly wise for us ultimately showing wisdom through the cross and empty tomb!  On the cross Jesus loves fully, trusts God, shuns evil, honors God with his best wealth, receives the Lord’s discipline on our behalf, judges soundly, and does good to others.  In the cross wisdom is LIVED!  Maybe Paul says it best as we enter this journey together:   “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”  I Corinthians 1:18
