“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” Proverbs 3:9-10
Wisdom is directly connected to our use of money. It shouldn’t surprise us, should it? Jesus did a lot of teaching on wealth. He pointed out the widow who gave her huge gift of pennies to the Lord. He told stories of a young man squandering his wealth, but being welcomed back by his loving father. He confronted the rich young man, and challenged him to identify the place of money in his life by asking him to sell his possessions.
In his teaching on wealth he consistently reminds us that money is to be used as a tool to live life abundantly. Love God abundantly by being generous. Love others abundantly by being generous. The entire law is summed up by Jesus in loving God and loving neighbor. Use your wealth to love others, and you’ll be honoring God in the process.
