3/10 All things new!

The Bible gives us many pictures. Some are accounts of what has been while others reach into time and explain what we’re seeing today. A few sections of Scripture even dare to look forward to the future and paint pictures of what will be. These verses, called prophecy, are ones that can excite the mind and give hope to a heavy heart.

Psalm 23:3 reminds us that God, our Good Shepherd, restores our soul. He can use these prophetic verses to do that as he points our eyes ahead to what is to come. He lifts our eyes off of our current problems and conditions and helps us to see a future to look forward to. As he lifts our eyes from today, and places tomorrow in view, we’re reminded that our problems are only here for a short time, but his blessings will last forever.

One verse that does this beautifully is Revelation 21:5 where God says, “Behold, I am making all things new!” God’s work of restoration will one day be complete as He ushers in a New Heaven and a New Earth where there will be no more tears, pain, or death. This restoration that we look forward to will be eternal. It will last forever! That news fills me with hope and joy today even as I wait for it to happen. I look forward to that day when Jesus will return and all things will be made new. Until then we can endure with the Hope that His future will bring.

Dear Jesus, you restore my soul today as you speak hopeful words about my future. Thank You! Amen.
