3/15 Fear no evil

Why should we fear no evil?  The Psalm writer gives evidence.  The Shepherd is with me.  His rod and his staff comfort me.  The presence of the Shepherd is stronger than any evil we might face.

It’s not that the evil isn’t that strong.  It’s not that the evil isn’t that scary.  It’s not that the evil is easily managed on our own.  It’s not that the evil will go away on its own.  It’s not that the evil isn’t really there in the first place.  It IS that the Good Shepherd is with me.  His presence makes all the difference.

This is why Sunday morning worship with the Lord’s Supper is so great, and so important, for Christians.  Here, at the Lord’s Table, Jesus is really present.  By faith, we believe His Words, “This is my body.”  And, by faith we believe that this is the LIVING body of Jesus, risen from the dead on Easter morning.  That living Jesus is with us!  And, because He is with us we can face any evil without fear.  See you at the altar this morning!

Dear Jesus, Thank you for being with me today!  Amen.
