“I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
There is always enough because God is a God of abundance. That’s a statement of faith. You won’t see this with your eyes. You can’t prove the existence of “enough.” You can’t measure it. You must believe it.
Faith takes hold of God’s Word and lives it out. Faith takes abundance from God’s Word and lives it. Faith rejects the idea of scarcity. Genesis 1 shows that God creates out of nothing. John 6 shows that Jesus makes more than enough. Ezekiel 37 shows God’s abundance bringing life from death. Luke 5 shows that Jesus knows where to find abundance even when we don’t as he tells the professional fishermen where to find the fish. I Kings 17 reminds us that even in the midst of a severe drought and famine God can provide resources. The virgin birth of Luke 2 reminds us that God gives Life, abundant Life. The resurrection shouts abundance!
People living by sight will never get this. As long as you’re waiting to see enough in your bank account before you’re going to give generously you’re going to keep waiting. People living by sight say things like, “You’ve got to take care of yourself first.” That’s a scarcity mindset, not an abundance mindset. This scarcity mindset breeds fear and doubt. An abundance mindset breeds freedom and generosity.
Read the Word. Trust what God says. There is always enough because God is a God of abundance.
Dear Jesus, free me from the fear of not enough, and fill me with your abundance. Amen.
